- ANGOLA. Kim, OZ1EYE, is active as D2EYE on 30, 40, 80 and 160
- meters, both CW and SSB. QSL via OZ1ACB. Antonio, D2EGH, has been
- on daily around 14201 kHz between 2000 and 2300z. He chats with
- C91AI from time to time on this frequency. D2EGH checks into the
- 21335 DX Net around 1800z and 14205 kHz between 2100 and 2245z. QSL
- via CT1EGH.

- BURKINA FASO. Peter, XT2BW, continues to warm the WARC bands, but
- will be leaving at the end of January bound for Ghana. Check 12 and
- 17 meters between 1600 and 1930z. He also works 3530 kHz around
- 2200z. QSL via WB2YQH.

- ANTARCTICA. Aage, LA9YBA, has been operating 3Y9YBA from the
- Bluefield camp in the Tierro Mountains and making Zone 13 available
- to many. Check 10102 kHz at 0100z or 14250 kHz at 0245z. QSL via
- LA9YBA. Dinesh, VU3DEN/MM is believed to be a member of India's
- Antarctic Expedition team. Upon arrival he will be signing AT3D.

- RWANDA. F6EXV is signing 9X5DX, and F6FNL is on as 9X5CW. This
- operation should continue until March 1.

- SAUDI ARABIA. HZ1AB gets on the top band from 1830 to 1835 kHz on
- Fridays starting around 0200z. QSL via K8PYD.

- SPACED OUT? MIR has a new crew comprised of Commander U9MIR,
- Engineer R3MIR and Doctor U3MIR. The call sign R0MIR is used on
- packet and the Packet Mail System R0MIR-1. Listen to 145.55 MHz for
- passes of ''MIR''. QSL via RV3DR, Serge Samburov, PO Box 73,
- Kaliningrad-10 City, Moscow Area, 141070, Russia.

- SUDAN. G4OJW is the main operator of ST0K in Khartoum, believed to
- be the only legally licensed club station in the Sudan. The Sudan
- Amateur Radio Association, SARA, is being established and soon hopes
- to be able to deliver QSLs to Sudanese amateurs. The address for
- SARA is c/o Khartoum Airport, Box 73, Khartoum, Sudan.

- CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC. TL8NG has been heard on the 3789 kHz Net
- at 2135z, 24935 kHz at 1700z, 18114 kHz at 1709z and 10107 kHz at
- 1945z. Another spot to try is 21335 kHz at 1445z or as late as
- 1745z.

- OGASAWARA. JD1BIE has left Minami Torishima and will become active
- on Ogasawara. His length of stay is unknown at this time. He has
- been a regular on the 14226 DX Net and also checks into the 7062 DX Net run
- by VK stations between 1030 and 1200z.

- SAINT LUCIA. Scott, N0JCL, will be on from January 28 to February
- 2. Check 3510 or 3795 kHz at 0900z; 7003 kHz at 1000z; and 14195
- kHz at 1200z. QSL w/SASE via 1138 McAllister Avenue, Marinette WI
- 54143. DL5XAT and DL9XAT plan to be active on 160 through 6 meters
- with CW and SSB from March 5 to 17. If J6 calls do not come through
- they will operate as J6/DL5XAT and J6/DL9XAT. QSL via CBA or PO Box
- 1411, D-21454 Reinbek, Germany.

- PREFIX HUNTERS NOTE. Nickolas, UX0FF, is on 3650 kHz every evening
- between 0300 and 0600z looking for stateside Qs. QSL via DF8BK.

- CAYMAN ISLANDS. Bruce, K0BJ, will sign ZF2NJ from January 23
- through 29, mainly on 15 and 20 meter CW. He also plans to be
- active on RS-12. QSL via Box DX, Colby, KS 67701.

- PACIFIC DXPEDITION. Nob, JF2MBF, starts a one month journey on
- February 12. He and Yasu, JI1NJC, will operate from Tonga as A35JJ
- February 12 through 20; T23JJ from Tuvalu February 23 to March 1;
- T30JJ from Western Kiribati March 2 to 8; and C21/WK3D from Nauru
- March 9 to 14. Plans include 160 through 10 meter CW, SSB and RTTY,
- plus some Mode B satellite work. QSL direct or to JR2KDN via the
- bureau.

- NEW ZEALAND. Jacky, F2CW, has visited Ron, ZL1AMO, and guest
- operated ZL1AMO on 7005 kHz at 0518z.

- CONTEST DATE CORRECTION. To set the story straight, the CQ 160
- Meter Contest will be on the weekend of January 28 through 30. The
- following are some tips for this event.

- Mike, K4PI, will be signing P49I. Remi, FK8CP, will call for W and
- VE stations on 1842 kHz, listening between 1846 and 1848 kHz at 0320
- and 1300z. P40W will be a multi-single effort by W2GD and K2TW.
- QSL via N2MM. AH6IO will activate Oahu on both CW and SSB.

- THIS WEEKEND ON THE RADIO. The ARRL January VHF Sweekstakes runs
- from 1900z Saturday the 22nd until 0400z Monday the 24th. Work as
- many stations possible and exchange grid squares. For full contest
- rules, check page 128 of December QST. W1AW will be active on 50,
- 144, 222 and 432 MHz on Saturday afternoon.
